Caged Shell type needle roller bearings
(1)Open end

This type has a very small clearance between the inside diameter of the outer rin grib (marked with bearing number, etc.) and the shaft,which prevents grease leaks and the entry of foreing particles. These bearing have a wide variety of application

This typy has one end of the outer ring completely close, and is ideally used when prefect closign of sheft ends is desired. The closed ends of the outer rings come in two shapes.One is a flat end in the case that the inscribed circle diemeter dr is less than 22mm. The other is a recess end in the case that the inscribed circle diameter dr exceeds. 22mmThe end thick-ness is classified res pec tively into t1 and t2 in the illustrations provided with the dimension table.Oil hole
In this type, as standard, inch series bearing have one oil hole and metrric series have none. 'OH' (oil hole) is not indicated on the bearing itself but is printed on the bearing box. Contact IKO if metric series bearings with oil hole are required. Bearing numbers in this case aer as follows. Example: TA 2525Z OH (with 2 oil holes...TA2525Z 2OH)Fit
Correct dimensional accuracy of these bearing is only found after they have been press-fitted into the housing bore. As the steel used in the outer rings is comparatively thin, bearing accuracy is directly affected by housing dimensions, shipe and rigidity. This fact should be teken into account when considering fit and accuracy. Shaft and housing bore fit is shown in Table 4.Raceway surface
These bearing are usually used without inner rings and in this case, a raceawy surface hardness of HR C 58 TO 64 and surface roughness of less than Rmax 0.8 is preferable. If operating conditions are not critical, a surface roughness of less than Rmax 3.2 is permissible. If the shaft can not be hardend and ground, IKO INNER RINGS FOR SHELL TYPE NEEDLE ROLLER BEARING (IRT or IRB) may be used.Mounting
The outer rings of these bearings are firmly press-fitted into the housing bore with an interference fit, so positioning them in the axial direction is unnecessary. As they are made of thin steel, the outer rings must NOT be struck directly with a hammer. The bearing are mounted with the use of the tool shown in Fig 1 BY press-fitting them into thr housing gentiy with the marked said upwards.
